So long winning streak

Well, although we didn’t have Corey Dillon, Ty Law or Tyrone Poole, we (The Patriots) still looked like crap against a smart Pittsburgh team. They obviously wanted this win and let’s face it: streaks are meant to be broken. It was a great ride, and I’m looking forward to starting a new streak when the Pats come home to Buffalo (let’s face it the Rams are tough too). And I will be at the Buffalo game. The last time I went to a Pats game, they started a streak. So you never know. LOL.

My other team, the Revolution (that’s Major League Soccer) won their series today, drawing 1-1 with Columbus. You see in soccer, a playoff is on aggregate goals, so since they won 1-0 in game 1, they win on goals. Yay. Next up: DC United. The Revs always suck with DC, so here’s hoping they can come back again. Of course, the MLS issue to me is how does a team with a crappy losing record even make the playoffs? (Revs were 8-13-9 this year).

So, the Pats lost, but I won my league and the Revs won. Not bad. I’ll take it. PIT will start booking their Super Bowl rooms now, just like in 2001, and we all know how that went :).

Steelers rule!!! To be honest, I’m surprised the Steelers (my team) demolished NE as easily as they did. I had a feeling they’d win, but not that easily. Yes NE had injuries, but so did the Steelers. The best Nose Tackle in the game (Casey Hampton) is out for the season, Starting CB Chad Scott is out for the season, starting OL Kendall Simmons out for the season, starting LB Kendrell Bell hasn’t played a game all year and starting AND backup QB Tommy Maddox/Charlie Batch are out. The Steelers have probably suffered more serious injuries than any team in the NFL.Yes, Ben is a 3rd string QB. Not anymore, but he was starting the season. Steelers capitalized on every turnover by NE and that was the turning point. Belicheck should’ve known you can’t blitz Ben Roethlisberger because he’ll eat you alive. I know people view him differently because he is a rookie, but he doesn’t play like one and blitzing won’t help.Steelers Super Bowl?? Maybe. They’re the best team in the AFC right now (record wise). I’m pretty sure no one would’ve predicted that or predicted that a rookie QB would start out 5-0 and handle NE the way he did. Shows anything can happen. If he leads the Steelers past Philly next week, I’ll book some SB tickets… 🙂

That PIT-PHI game is going to be very, very good.

Yeah the PHI/PIT game should be good. I think the Steelers can win as long as they can control the clock. Frankly, the Steelers have no once capable of covering TO and if Philly has the ball a lot on offense, he’s going to eat the Steelers secondary alive. It’ll be interesting though. I hoped for a 9-7 season at best and it looks like the Steelers might do better than that (assuming they don’t have an all out collapse).

I think the offensive line choked for the Pats on Sunday — it wasn’t the lack of Dillon, it was the lack of blocking.
