Catching up – Part 1 – Palace

Well, it certainly has been a while since I’ve posted, so there is a bit to cover.

Thanks to Dan for continuing to post here while I’ve been on my, for lack of a better word, sabbatical from contributing to the site.  Has it really been since March?  Damn…

I’ve now been to Selhurst Park to see Crystal Palace twice.  Once on my birthday in May (for a 4-0 win over Hull City) and again in September for a 1-0 loss in Roy Hodgson’s first match with the club.

To say that following a club like Palace is a roller-coaster is an understatement.  Since I started supporting the club in 2013 (man it feels longer than that though…) they have had 5 different managers (and multiple caretakers,) they have been buried in the bottom 3 for months at a time, played in the FA Cup final, and have somehow managed to survive and stay in the Premier League every single year.  Still, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Now the club is in 14th in the table, which is absolutely astounding since they started the season with 7 straight losses without scoring a single goal.  Since then, in 11 matches, they have outscored their opponents 15 to 11, have won 4, tied 5, and lost 2.  It’s been incredible to watch the confidence in the team grow and it showed this last weekend when they absolutely thumped Leicester 3-0.  Still plenty of work to do before the season is up, as they need 23 more points in the next 20 matches to hit the magical 40 point mark.  Coming from where this club was at the beginning of the year, I would have never felt this possible, but here we are and I sit typing this with a smile on my face.  Glad all Over, indeed.

Onto gaming in my next post later tonight.
